The cabins located on Miller’s Landing or Lowell Point carry a 2% Sale Tax and cabins located in Seward carry a 10% Sale Tax. The prices given below are based on 2004. If you wait until 2005 to book in this option you will pay 2005 prices. If you cancel your arrangements prior to May 1, 2005 you will get a full refund. Cancellation after May 1, 2005 will result in a partial refund.
Please Note:
This option starts on Thursday, however you can book a stay on Wednesday night to catch the boat on Thursday morning out to the Fox Island North Spit operation.
Thursday morning you can board a boat at 9:00 AM at the port in Seward to travel to the North Spit. Lunch will be provided on the island at the campsite for the radio operation. The cost of lunch is TBD. I am looking into finding out if Alaskans know anything about Wisconsin Brats!! The boat will return to Seward to pick up more individuals going to the island at 12:00 PM and will arrive at the North Spit at 1:00 PM. Those wishing to do so may return to Seward at this time. The next pick times from the North Spit is 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM. Everyone staying in Seward must leave during those two times and due to limited seating on the boat those who came on the morning boat will be expected to leave on the 4:30 PM boat. There will be a cost for the water taxis to and from Seward. The cost is (TBD) based on the number of individuals partaking in this excursion from Seward. The radio operation will be located in tents on the island so rain or shine you can still come out to the island and enjoy operating in the outdoors.
Besides coming out to Fox Island there are other activities that will be available. We will be making arrangements such as fishing charters, kayaking lessons and trips, and guided tours. I understand that we will be in Seward at a great time for fishing. Plus Lowell Point is close to one of the top 10 hiking trails in Alaska.
Please note:
Due to the radio operation concluding at 12:00 PM on Saturday there will be no traveling to the Fox Island on this day. If you are staying in Seward on Saturday and would like to join the day cruise to the Northwestern Fjord there will be a charge of $119.20 plus taxes and fees, lunch will be provided on this tour. The Kenai Fjord Tours group provides this cruise. If you are interested in this tour and would like to book it. Please contact Larry McCalvy, WA9JMO or David Whitham, K9DQ. You can contact Larry at 262-639-7327 or wa9jmo@qsltravels.org. You can contact Dave at 262-886-6582 or k9dq@qsltravels.org to make your arrangement. Otherwise, please take part in some of the other activities available in the Seward area.
Since booking will be done directly with Miller’s Landing or otherwise listed below. Please be sure and notify Larry McCalvy, WA9JMO or Dave Whitham, K9DQ of your booking. This will help Larry and Dave get you into the schedule for operating at Fox Island.
