Stay at the Wilderness Lodge on Fox Island

The lodge has 8 individual cabins and will accommodate up to 18 people. The accommodations also includes three great meals cooked by the lodge’s own personal chef. This package includes a grilled salmon buffet the first day, followed with gourmet dinner and breakfast to balance each day's stay. A lunch will be served on board the Northwestern Fjord Tour if you chose this option (see below for information on this option).

Option I starts on Thursday August 19th. You will load your light luggage by 11:15 AM by loading your light luggage at 11:15 AM and boarding a boat. Heavier luggage needed for your entire Alaskan trip can be stored at the Kenai Fjords Tours main office. You will be taken to the Wilderness Lodge where you will unload your luggage and prepare for a 1:00 PM lunch. After lunch, you can board another boat and be taken around to the North Spit where the DX-pedition will be operating. At 6:00 PM, the boat will return to bring those people on the North Spit back to the Wilderness Lodge for a 7:00 PM dinner. There will be a Fox Island Kayaking Tour available after dinner at 8:00 PM for those interested. Breakfast will be served the next morning at 8:00 AM. After breakfast, you have the choice of boarding the Northwestern Fjord Tour boat and after the tour you are returned to Seward. Or you can choose catch a boat to go back to the North Spit radio operation. Then during the early afternoon you will be returned to Seward. This ends the one-day stay at the Wilderness Lodge. You can choose to stay another day at the lodge or return back to Seward and partake in the options listed in the Option 2 section below.

The cost for the one-day stay at the Wilderness Lodge is $294.78 per person and $147.84 per person for each subsequence day stays at the Wilderness Lodge. The rates are based on double occupancy and include three meals. The water taxis from and to Seward has a $1.50 Port Fee per person. There will be an extra charge (TBD) for the water taxis to and from the North Spit radio operation area from the Wilderness Lodge. You cannot walk around the island to get to the North Spit from the lodge. It is really a mountain that comes up and out of the water. Once again, you can choose to stay with this option all 3 days or 1-2 days mixing in a stay with some of the items listed in Option 2.

You can contact Dave at (262) 886-6582 or k9dq@qsltravels.org to make your arrangement. Payments for the booking will be accepted by Dave via PayPal, check or money order. You can send your checks or money orders to Dave Whitham, K9DQ, 9731 Dunkelow Road, Franksville, WI 53126. You will be given a 100% refund if you cancel this arrangement 91 days prior to the date of your arranged stay. After that time, the refund is prorated at 50% - 61 days prior and 25% - 31 days prior to your arranged stay. There will be no refund canceling 30 days prior to your arranged stay.
